Born Mary Antoinette Castro in West Covina, CA. on April 14, 1981. At Queen of the Valley Hospital. The oldest of five children. Her Mother Irish, french and Spanish, and her father Mexican. She grew up all around Southern California and went to many schools. At times it was tough, and hard for Mary to make friends because she was always moving and never settling. She became very independent early in life.
Coming from a household with a single parent was challenging for Mary. She had to grow up fast and care for younger brothers and sisters. It made her very responsible and ambitious.
At an early age she had a passion for the arts. Mary discovered her talent of voice at the tender age of 14 when she tried out for the school choir with her friend. Up into that point Mary didn't even know that she could sing! She had no idea of what would come and that she possessed such a wonderful and powerful voice. Her voice began to develop with the training. At 15 years old her voice was already strong and powerful and the projection of it could fill any room.
At 16 , she was awarded a vocal music scholarship to The University of La Verne from the Music Director Himself. She then graduated from 11th grade with her diploma.
She didn't continue college after her first year though. Mary was completely worn out from having two jobs, trying to do her schoolwork to keep her scholarship, and not even having a car to get around. She grew restless. Then an opportunity came to go to Austin, TX. She was 18 then, and was really trying to do some soul searching . She got a job as a waitress at Hooters in Round Rock, TX. Mary made many friends and had a lot of fun, but the desire was growing stronger in her heart to pursue her dreams, so she saved up some money and moved back to Los Angeles. Besides, she missed the California sun (and the weather).
At 20, Mary decided she wanted to take the world by storm with her combination of good looks and great talent. The determination she felt was so strong. There was no turning back, Mary was already on her way.
